Jackson has been awarded the £3.9 million Clacton Slope Stabilization Scheme on behalf Tendring District Council.

The Council has a coastline of 60km and maintains the sea defense structures along 18.5km of this frontage.

With this coastline, Jackson will install a new access ramp down the cliff, a new drainage system and sheet piled walls along the 400m section on Kings Parade. This scheme will prevent slipping occurring and to make access to the lower promenade safer and wheel chair friendly.

Tendring Council’s councilor responsible for leisure and tourism, Mick Skeels , said “ It is vital we look at stabilizing the cliffs and plans have been drawn up for managing these coastal slopes to reduce the movement and provide protection .”

Skeels stated that the initiative for the Clacton Slope Stabilization Scheme came from the success of the £36 million coastal protection scheme that recently took place in the area which helped protect the towns of Harwich, Dovercourt, Walton on the Naze, Frinton on sea, Holland on sea, Clacton and Brightlingsea.

The company will start work on the Clacton scheme in 28th August and is expected to be finished by late spring 2019.
