The Army Corps of Engineers’ Pittsburgh District and the Borough of Ridgway will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week to commemorate the rehabilitation of the local flood-protection project on Elk Creek in Ridgway, Pennsylvania.

The ceremony is set to take place on Wednesday, October 17, at 144 North Broad Street, Ridgway, PA.

The Ridgway project is a part of the Corps’ PL84-99 program, which is intended to work with local sponsors to ensure flood-protection projects damaged by storms are quickly repaired.

Work at Ridgway included replaced stream bank protection, removal of debris within the steam channel and replaced portions of the existing masonry stone retaining wall.

Work began in October 2017 at an approximate cost of $800,000. It was completed ahead of schedule and within budget, said USACE.

The Pittsburgh District works in partnership with local communities to develop flood-protection projects that are designed to protect lives and property.
