Sunoco Partners Marketing and Terminals is proposing to perform maintenance dredging of three berthing areas to their Docks 2, 3, and 4, at the Hog Island Wharf, including 10 years of maintenance dredging, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District reports.
The proposed dredging is located at 11 Hog Island Road, within the Delaware River at River Mile 89.6, approximately one mile downstream of the Philadelphia County – Delaware County boundary in Tinicum Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
The dredged material would be loaded into a watertight barge and transported to either Whites Basin or Biles Island.
Whites Basin is the preferred disposal location and is located in Logan Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, said USACE.
Public comments are due by December 4, 2018.
