The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) said in their recent announcement that the latest round of dredging operations on the approach channel of the Azov Sea’s Berdyansk Port are now completed.

According to the official announcement, “ the implementation of these works helped to improve the conditions of navigation on the approach channel. The plans for the next year include increasing the draft to 7,9 meters.”

After completing her work at Berdyansk Port, USPA’s trailing suction hopper dredger Meotida was relocated to the Mariupol Port dredging project – set to continue throughout January 2019.

More dredging in the following period

Earlier this month, USPA announced tenders for more dredging work at Mariupol and Berdiansk.

According to USPA, the amount of work that needs to be undertaken in Berdiansk Port is 1.85 million cubic meters of material, of which 1.4 million cubic meters from the approach channel and 466 thousand cubic meters from the inner water area of the port.

The volume of material set to be removed from Mariupol Port is 1.9 million cubic meters. The main works (1.79 million cubic meters) are to be carried out on the approach channel of the Coal Harbor, and 115.000 cubic meters from the port’s water area.

Applications for participation in the tenders for operational dredging in Mariupol and Berdiansk seaports are accepted until January 14, 2019.
