The Palaszczuk Government is about to make a $1 million investment in Bundaberg’s popular boating facilities at Burnett Heads, according to the Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey.
The minister announced last Sunday (February 10) that Sunshine State-based businesses will deliver the million-dollar package of works, thanks to the Palaszczuk Government’s Buy Queensland strategy.
“ Burnett Heads is the gateway to some of Bundy’s most sought after recreational fishing and boating spots, so we’re working with Queensland businesses to refurbish the Four Knots boat ramp, repair the jetty and remove hard rock materials from the boat harbor ,” Minister Bailey said.
“ Crews are already removing hard rock materials, and works will get underway later this month to give the jetty a new lease on life ,” added the minister.
Repairs to the jetty include refurbishing the concrete piles and cracked concrete, and replacing damaged bumpers, corroded fixings and brackets.
The dredging is expected to be complete early March, while jetty works are expected to be complete ahead of the April school holidays, weather permitting.
Works on the Four Knots boat ramp will commence in mid-February and are expected to be complete early March.
The jetty will be closed while repairs are made, and the boat ramp will be closed while it is refurbished with boaties still able to access ramps at McGills Road, Kalkie or at the Burnett Heads Boat Harbor.
