The West Fork of the San Jacinto River FEMA funded Emergency Debris Removal project near Kingwood, Texas, has reached its halfway mark of completion, USACE Galveston District said in its latest announcement.

This emergency cleanup program was awarded to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) on July 6, 2018 and covers about two miles of the West Fork of the San Jacinto River.

The contractor has dredged approximately 805,000 cubic yards of material to date, and nearly 300 tons of debris such as trees, and other material. The project is scheduled for completion in mid-April.

Over 1.8 million cubic tons of material is forecasted to be removed during the operations.
