The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, will host a public meeting on April 10 in Marysville to discuss construction plans for Phases 2B and 3 of the Marysville Ring Levee project.

USACE reported that the open-house meeting will provide an overview explanation of the project’s status and supplemental environmental documents, which are based on the initial Environmental Assessment/Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration adopted in 2010. Updates to the documents were required as a result of design and schedule changes.

The meeting will also provide interested individuals an opportunity to provide public comment on the updated Supplemental EA/IS and MND documents.

Phases 2B and 3 are located along the existing levee on the eastern border of Marysville, extending from Jack Slough at its northern border down to Highway 70 at its southern end.

The proposed levee improvements would reduce the risk of levee failure by installing a seepage cutoff wall and realigning the levee at some locations.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020 and continue for four construction seasons.

Deadline for sending comments on the Draft Supplemental EA/IS/MND is until April 28, 2019.
