A keel laying ceremony for DEME’s split hopper vessel took place two days ago (April 15) at PaxOcean Graha in Batam, Indonesia.

PaxOcean, a subsidiary of Kuok Singapore Limited, recently won newbuilding contracts for the construction of a new 2,300m³ trailing suction hopper dredger and two 3,500m³ split hopper vessels for Royal IHC.

The compact hopper design ensures high maneuverability and optimized dredging works.

Built to the requirements of classification society Bureau Veritas, the vessel’s design features a shallow draught which can be deployed worldwide for projects in shallow water.

It is expected that the dredger will be delivered in the first half of 2020.
