Jan De Nul has successfully completed the dredging works in the Port of Broome in Australia.

“By dredging the access channel, cruise ships will have better access at all tides. Cable Beach, known for its famous pristine white sand and stunning turquoise water, is now even more ready for the next cruise season,” the company said in its latest announcement.

Speaking about the project, Ports Minister Alannah MacTiernan , said: “Broome is one of Western Australia’s top destinations, but challenging tidal conditions and the rock mass in the entry channel have made it difficult for cruise ships to access the port at all tides.”

The main goal of this $15.3 million channel optimization program was to allow 24-hour access for cruise ships, which needed to berth at irregular hours due to navigational hazards.
