The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, has just released this beautiful photo from the Buffalo Harbor dredging program.

The work, being completed by Ryba Marine Construction from Cheboygan, Michigan, includes standard operation and maintenance dredging operations.

In fact, around 114,000 cubic yards, as well as 120,000 cubic yards of strategic navigation dredging will be conducted under this capital project.

Further, all dredging will be performed within the federal navigation channel.

The harbor requires approximately 100,000 cubic yards of dredging every two years to maintain the navigation channel.

Also, dredging was last completed in 2018, removing 125,000 CY of material. The dredged material was beneficially used for ecosystem restoration at nearby Unity Island.
