The long-awaited Wellfleet Harbor Dredging Project in Massachusetts is now underway, according to the town officials.
As reported, the dredging of the federal channel started on October 1, 2020. The works will continue through the allowable dredging seasons, October 1 through December 31, of 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The dredging project consists of two phases, the federal channel dredging and the harbor basin dredging.
During the first phase, the Army Corps of Engineers is using dredging contractor Cashman Dredging to dredge the channel 10 feet deep and 125 feet wide.
For this phase, the contractor will remove around 156,000 cubic yards of material from the channel. Cashman will load the dredged material into scows, taking it to the Cape Cod Bay Disposal Site (CCBDS).
The second phase of dredging includes removal of approximately 433,000 cubic yards from the harbor basin.
