Port of Rotterdam has just released this very interesting video about the research program PRISMA – innovative dredging methods.
Furthermore, the Port is continuously looking for ways to make the port smarter more efficient, better and more sustainable.
“For this, we look under water to find a source of innovation that seems unlikely at first: Mud,” said the Port.
“In liquid form it offers many opportunities.”
In many sea ports, like Rotterdam, the top layer of harbor bed consists of mud.
To keep the water depth optimal, the Port dredges these areas periodically.
