All set for Port of Kirkcaldy dredging

The Port of Kirkcaldy dredging project will begin next week, Forth Ports Limited said in their latest announcement.

The grab hopper dredger Admiral Day will be carrying out dredging operations in the port for a period of 14 days.

The annual dredging program removes the natural build-up of silt from the harbor area.

Also, the main goal of these works is to ensure that the harbor is safe and accessible for ships arriving at the quayside.

In fact, Kirkcaldy Harbor hosts around 42 vessel calls per year, the majority of which are cargo ships with essential wheat for Carr’s Milling plant.

“During all dredging operations, the dredger will display shapes and lights as required by International and local regulations,” the statement reads.
