For this project, ML Dredging is using their backhoe dredger, the “Witton II”. Barge “Split Three” is taking the dredged material for disposal to the Nab Tower disposal site.
According to Gosport Marina, the contractor is moving forward with this dredging project, which aims to remove a total of 25,000m3 of silt and mud. This will ensure deep water draft sailing and fully navigable waters continue within the marina for the berth holders.
They also added that the alternative entrance/exit at the floating breakwater has now been created and is fully lit and navigable to allow berth holders access into the marina.
“The works will be completed within the next two weeks, weather permitting,” said Jonathan Walcroft CMM, Marina Manager.
Once complete, the new depths will benefit both marina and their customers over a significant area of the marina.
