Jan De Nul has just released this beautiful photo from their coastal protection project in Nieuwpoort.

Belgium has a coastline of 65 km bordering the south-eastern part of the North Sea.

Being one of the Low Countries, its coastal zones and sea ports are vulnerable to climate change.

“We therefore protect our coastlines in a sustainable way,” said Jan De Nul in the latest project update.

“Not far from our Sanderus in the Port of Ostend, our civil engineering team in Nieuwpoort is currently construction the abutment of the storm surge barrier on the right bank of the port entrance channel.”

The tubular pipes are driven in the soil and will form the foundation of the abutment.
