The new owners, Totland Pier Ltd., has been progressing the re-development project to transform the pier back into a public venue as a restaurant at the end of the pier that would be accessible from both the shoreside and the water.

Jenkins Marine Ltd. were contracted to supply and install 17 new piles to form the foundations for the new restaurant development.
This project involved both the Doreen Dorward, the company’s 50-tonne crane barge suited for piling projects and the Stour as a piles/materials transportation barge.
Both multi-category vessels are perfectly suited for this type of operation as both have good manoeuvrability and powered spud legs to stabilise the vessels for water-based construction operations.
Once mobilised from Poole Harbour both vessels sailed over to Totland Pier, setting up for operations, and started piling on Wednesday afternoon, 4th November 2020.
As the location prevented staying overnight, Jenkins managed to work with the tide windows to get to and from Yarmouth Marina and optimise their operational time onsite.
With the use of a vibro-hammer the company managed to install all 17 piles and complete the operations by Friday, 6th November 2020, and head back to Poole for demobilisation.
