Works underway for a new jetty at The Spit

Planning and design works are underway for a new pontoon and jetty at The Spit as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s multi-million-dollar strategy to improve the promote the Gold Coast icon in the future.

According to Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development Steven Miles , designers are already hard at work developing concepts for a new pontoon and jetty as part of the mass program of public improvements.

“The Spit is a Gold Coast icon. This project will ensure it remains a drawcard for decades to come,” Mr Miles said. “With design work under way for the next stage of construction, we’re ensuring that we continue to deliver projects that support jobs on the Gold Coast.”

Mr Miles added that the $4.04 million project to deliver a new jetty and pontoon would be delivered through a partnership with the Gold Coast Waterways Authority (GCWA).

“We expect the jetty to become a new Gold Coast attraction as a great spot to fish or enjoy beautiful Broadwater views looking south to Surfers Paradise,” concluded Mr Miles.
