The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, together with local sponsor Port of Everett, will next week start dredging works in Everett Harbor, WA.
According to the Corps, they will begin maintenance dredging of the lower channel and settling basin of Everett Harbor and Snohomish River December 9, 2020.

USACE awarded the contract to J.E. McAmis of Chico, California, for $1.5 million. During the works, the contractor will remove approximately 65,000 cubic yards of dredged material from the downstream channel and approximately 100,000 cubic yards from the lower settling basin.
Both will be performed using a clamshell dredge with material placed on a barge and disposed of at the Department of Natural Resources’ Port Gardner open water disposal site.
Prior to dredging, USACE tested the material preparing a biological evaluation in accordance with the Endangered Species Act.
Boaters in the area should slow down, pass on the marina side of the dredge, pay attention to rig markings, avoid and be cautious around the dredging operations. The operation will run 24/7 and should be completed by mid-February 2021, stated the Corps.
