DEME Group is currently executing several port development dredging projects in the Mediterranean.
Recently, the company’s trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Uilenspiegel’ finalised the deepening of the access channel to the Port of Setubal in Portugal.
TSHD ‘Uilenspiegel’ was one of three hoppers deployed on the project. During the works, these hopper dredgers removed approximately 3.5 million m3 of dredged material from the access channel.
Most of the dredged material has been reclaimed into a new harbour area.
Overall, it will be a busy year in the region for DEME, with major dredging projects starting in the ports of Ravenna (Italy), Leixões (Portugal) and La Rochelle (France).
