Stabenow joins Environment and Public Works Committee

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will join the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, an important committee assignment for Michigan.

Senator Stabenow has worked closely with this committee, which impacts many high-priority issues for Michigan including the Great Lakes,fisheries, wildlife, water quality, transportation and other infrastructure.

The committee oversees the Army Corps of Engineers and has a key role in addressing the threat of Asian carp, dredging and water infrastructure.

This committee will be playing a pivotal role this Congress on critical priorities for Senator Stabenow and the Biden administration including the future of electric vehicles, transportation infrastructure and the climate crisis.

“This new committee assignment puts me in a more powerful position to continue to get things done for Michigan and protect our Michigan way of life,” said Senator Stabenow.

“The committee oversees the Army Corps of Engineers and has a key role in addressing the threat of Asian carp, dredging and water infrastructure. Additionally, the committee will help shape the future of electric vehicles as it oversees the infrastructure needed to modernize our transportation system. These are all critical priorities for Michigan, and I look forward to hitting the ground running on this important work.”

Senator Stabenow is the incoming Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. She will continue to serve as a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Budget Committee.
