According to the Carteret County, Weeks Marine made solid progress last week, completing dredging works in the reach known as “Range B”.

However, since last Sunday their cutterhead dredge JS Chatry has been moored in the harbor because of rough sea conditions and mechanical issues. The county officials expect that the vessel will be back in service by the end of the week to continue this dredging project.
“The position of the beachfill during this pause is near the intersection of Dunes Ave and Club Colony Road, and will continue progressing westward towards and ultimately past the Oceanana Pier all the way to the Circle,” said Carteret County in the update. “We are estimating that ~675,000 to 700,000 cubic yards have been dredged and placed along 7,886 linear feet of beach.”
The total estimated volume of material to be dredged from the harbor during the works is 1,143,000 cubic yards. The material mostly comes from the areas known as the “Range B, Cutoff, and Range A”.
