Continental Heavy Civil Corporation has won a $37,348,064 construction contract for the Broward County Segment III beach renourishment project.
According to the Army Corps, Broward County Segment III Shore Protection Project includes placing sand on the beaches of Dr. Von D. Mitzel-Eula Johnson State Park, Dania Beach, Hollywood and Hallandale.

This renourishment calls for the placement of approximately 840,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand from upland sand mine(s). Dunes and coastal vegetation will also be constructed within the limits of the Park as a part of this construction contract.

The project work will renourish approximately 7 miles of critically eroded shoreline immediately south of Port Everglades Inlet in Segment III along two placement areas. A 1.5 mile long segment within the Mitzel-Eula Johnson State Park (South jetty to R-92) and a 5.8 mile long segment within the cities of Dania, Hollywood, and Hallandale (R-98.3 to R-128).
