Restoring natural resources in Louisiana VIDEO

The 2010 Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill was the largest oil spill in U.S. history, and damaged natural resources across the northern Gulf of Mexico.

The oil spread from the deep ocean to the surface and shoreline environment in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

In Louisiana, DWH Natural Resource Damage Assessment Trustees EPA and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority are partnering on the Golden Triangle Marsh Creation Project.

The Golden Triangle is a wetland area close to New Orleans, where brackish marsh vegetation is crucial in buffering storm surge and acting as natural protection for coastal communities.
