Van Oord: Keeping São Francisco do Sul Port accessible

The Port of São Francisco do Sul is one of the largest ports in Brazil and Latin America. Late 2020, Van Oord was contracted to perform maintenance dredging works in order to keep this maritime hotspot accessible.

Trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Lelystad removed 2 million cubic metres of sediment earlier this year to re-establish the depth of the access channel, the turning basin and the berths.

After completing this job successfully, the Lelystad moved on to the next Brazilian port to show off its capabilities.
