After 4 years of dredging, over 1.26 million cubic yards of sediment has been removed from Fountain Lake, Shell Rock River Watershed District (SRRWD) said.
“The Brookside boat landing will be closed the night of October 3rd and all day October 4th and 5th as J.F. Brennan Company, Inc. removes the barges and dredge from Fountain Lake,” according to the latest project update.
“After removing over 1,200,000 cubic yards of sediment, our Environmental Group is closing the chapter on another job well done,” Brennan said
This is the fourth year of dredging.
Beyond this year’s work, the remainder of dredging is up in the air as SRRWD seeks more state bonding dollars to be appropriated to the project. .
