Central Coast Council has just released this amazing video named Ettalong Umina Coastal Management.
The entrance to Brisbane Water is characterised by a highly mobile and dynamic sedimentary system consisting of a series of nearshore shoals and sandy beaches.
“Since early European exploration this complex system has proven to be troublesome and we have sought to tame the area through management intervention ranging from dredging and sand nourishment to hard engineering ,” said the council.
This video explains the long history of coastal protection works in the area and introduces the Umina-Ocean Beach Erosion Management Strategy which aims to implement a more holistic and integrated management approach built on a more detailed understanding of the process shaping the area.
