Asia’s largest cutter suction dredger, the CSD ‘Tiankun’ is back in action after drydocking and repairs at Rizhao Port Shipbuilding & Machinery Industry Co., Ltd (RPIC).
CSD ‘Tiankun’ is the most advanced self-designed and independently built cutter suction dredger in China with a length of 140 meter, width of 27.8 meter and maximum dredging depth of 35m.
According to RPIC, the company ended the dock repair task and returned vessel to working service in just couple of days.
“Confronting the combined challenges of big work scope, high demands and cold weather, all team members strove to enhance efficiency based on premium quality, and achieved the smooth completion within mere 6 days,” said RPIC.
Following the repairs, RPIC expects that dredging capacity of the CSD ‘Tiankun’ will reach 6,000 cubic meters an hour with the total installed power of 25,843 kW.
Built for China Communications Construction Co. Ltd. (CCCC), the ‘Tiankun’ first hit the water in Qidong, East China’s Jiangsu Province, in 2017.
The dredger was jointly designed by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard and the China Merchants Industry, and constructed by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries.
