Central Dredging Association (CEDA) has just provided a detailed overview of technical field trips which are planned as part of the WODCON XXIII conference.
As reported, two very different, interesting and informative technical field trips are offered to WODCON delegates and exhibitors on Friday 20 May.

On each tour participants will be given detailed explanations and will have the opportunity to have face to face discussions with those experts who have been directly involved in the projects.
The ultimate attraction of the congress is a full day tour to the construction site in the Fehmarnbelt – with a sail along the 18km immersed tunnel alignment between Rødbyhavn (Denmark) and Puttgarden (Germany), while enjoying the view to the fleet of the various dredgers involved the dredging of the tunnel trench (heavy-duty backhoe- and grab dredgers together with 1 a’ 2 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers).
The visit also includes a guided tour inside the more than 7km reclamation area being constructed in front of the Lolland coast – with stopovers at a few key spots like the deep pit for the portal building, the huge work harbour, the factory for casting the more than 200 m long tunnel elements and finally the exhibition center in Rødbyhavn.
Lynetteholm is a peninsula that will serve as a future storm surge protection for the city of Copenhagen. It is located in the northern part of Copenhagen harbour and will also provide housing for 35.000 inhabitants.
The project involves a 2.8 km2 land reclamation in several phases. The first phase is taking place in 2022. The organisation tasked with the development of Lynetteholm is By & Havn (95% owned by Copenhagen Municipality). This tour will be hosted and sponsored by By & Havn and will include a sailing trip to the site.
The World Dredging Congress (WODCON) is held every three years and it is the biggest global event in the professional dredgers’ calendar.
The theme for WODCON XXIII is ‘ Dredging is Changing ’ and it will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 16th to 20th May 2022, at the Tivoli Congress Center.
