Last week, an inquiry was initiated against G.Y.V. Victor, the CEO and Managing Director of Dredging Corporation of India (DCI).
According to The Hindu , the inquiry was initiated after a few allegations have surfaced questioning the appointment of Dr. Victor to the position.
Regarding this, Dredging Corporation of India has released the following statement:
“DCI Management affirm that all the requirement, procedure and policy applicable for fixed tenure post appointment as per the company law and statutes were strictly adhered and complied, there was no violation, lapse of any rules, regulations, norms or procedure.
The service rules of seafarers, floating employees are governed by marine regulations along with the applicable agreement entered between the company and the maritime union, unlike for the shore employment that are governed by FR & SR rules.
The maritime union General Secretary confirmed by email in accordance to seafarer agreement re-employment of candidate is under companies discretion and as Union we do not have any objection for re-employment.
The then Chief Vigilance Officer confirmed and certified that as on date no vigilance case is pending or contemplated against the officer at the time of severance from seafaring position. Therefore the appointment was made in accordance to the rules and regulations as applicable to Company Act without any violation and or lapse.
The statements appeared in the media are factually incorrect, misleading and contrary to the marine regulations, statues and the law.”
