The City of Fort Lauderdale, FL, has approved almost $1 million for the Himmarshee Canal Dredging Project.
According to the city, the Commission OK’d an agreement with Arbor Tree and Land, Inc., for the Himmarshee Canal Dredging Project in the amount of $710,250.
The project includes maintenance dredging of approximately 875 linear feet of the Himmarshee Canal. The dredging is scheduled to take place along the canal between SE 8th Avenue and SE 10th Terrace.
There will be a current fiscal year impact to the city in the amount of $710,250 for this agreement, and $100,000 for estimated disposal fees for a total amount of $810,250.
The City of Fort Lauderdale owns 57 miles of navigable canals that require periodic dredging to remain navigable.
In an effort to improve the level of service to its citizens and maintain property values, the city is implementing a proactive program to dredge City-owned canals.
