Rehabilitation of the Manistee South Breakwater began last month in Manistee, Michigan.

The USACE Detroit District contracted Roen Salvage Company of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to encapsulate the existing deteriorated structure in steel sheet piling and concrete cap with stone placement.

Work is estimated to continue into November; the breakwater will remain closed to the public during construction, said USACE.

Roen Salvage Company is a marine contractor with over 70 years of experience throughout the Great Lakes and midwestern inland waterways. They specialize in marine construction, corrosion protection, and dredging.
