The Opotiki Harbour Development team is very busy working on the apron and the toe construction of the Western Breakwater these days.
The apron is the layer of rock going out from the wall and in the photo bellow you can see the long reach building out the toe at the end of the wall:
The Opotiki Harbour Development Project will provide access for larger boats by creating an entrance that is navigable in all but the worst conditions, enabling Opotiki to become a service and processing base for aquaculture and other marine related industries.
