Earlier this year, Marine Management Organisation (MMO) granted a marine licence to Associated British Ports (ABP) for the development of the Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF).

As part of the next phase of the project, ABP will invest around £1 million in the detailed design of infrastructural upgrades of the site, including the addition of extra capacity to accommodate the next generation of larger offshore support vessels.

The design phase is anticipated to last around 6 months with the construction following over the next 12 months and potential for vessels to begin using the facility from 2024.
After the design and construction of the new facility, the project will be finalized with a capital dredging of the approach channels and maintenance dredge and disposal programme.
