Dredging Corporation of India signs historic agreement with IWAI

Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) signed a historic agreement with Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) today. The deal was inked with the Government of India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for ‘the Work of Development & Maintenance of Fairway’, with an estimated cost of Rs 204.

Dredging Corporation of India signs historic agreement with IWAI

Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) signed a historic agreement with Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) today.

The deal was inked with the Government of India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways for ‘the Work of Development & Maintenance of Fairway’ , with an estimated cost of Rs 204.5 Cr ($24.9 million) for a period of three years.

Under the contract, DCI will undertake the dredging work on the following stretches:

(a) Dhubri – Hatsingimari/Fakirganj, (30 Km),

(b) Guwahati – North Guwahati and (5 Km),

(c) Neamati – Majuli (Kamalabari / Aphala) (30 km).

According to DCI, today’s signing is another step towards expansion and diversification of the company’s business into the inland waterways – a new business vertical in addition to the existing maintenance dredging operations, capital dredging, land reclamation, beach nourishment, project management consultancy etc.

Captain S Divakar , MD & CEO, A/C, of Dredging Corporation of India Limited, has signed the deal on behalf of the company and Ashutosh Gautam , the Inland Waterways Authority (IWAI) official, put his signature on behalf of the Government.
