Plans are progressing for another boating upgrade on the western side of Port Phillip with the release of a tender for construction at Kirk Point, Better Boating Victoria reports.
“We’ve led the process to develop upgrade plans for the ramp, one of several projects through the 2022-23 Victorian Recreational Boating Action Plan,” said BBV.
With construction-ready designs finalised, Parks Victoria will appoint a contractor and settle on a timeline for the work.
The proposed upgrade includes an extra ramp lane and a breakwater to provide far better protection from wind and wave action.
The project has been granted all the necessary environmental approvals given the importance of the wetlands and wildlife close by.
“We’re expecting work will begin after Easter,” said BBV.
