The Army Corps’ Walla Walla District and the contractor began the Snake River dredging campaign on January 5, 2022. According to USACE, work will conclude by March 1, before the spring fish runs.

The work is being done to maintain the federal navigation channel at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers near Lewiston, Idaho and downstream of Ice Harbor Dam.
All dredged sediment is being disposed of at an in-water location near Bishop Bar (north shore) located at River Mile 118 on the lower Snake River in Washington.
The last time these two areas were dredged was from December 2014 to March 2015.
