Kooiman hands over new dredger Hegemann V

Kooiman Marine Group has successfully handed over the new 75.9-meter trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Hegemann V to her owner Hegemann Dredging in Germany.

According to Kooiman, the Hegemann V left the yard in Zwijndrecht and was delivered last Wednesday.

The newbuild is a multi-purpose trailing suction hopper dredger and will soon be used by Hegemann Dredging for various types of dredging work, starting on the Ems in Germany.

The dredger was developed by Kooiman Engineering, part of Kooiman Marine Group, in close collaboration with Hegemann Dredging.

The ship’s propulsion system includes two SCHOTTEL RudderPropellers type SRP 270 (840 kW each), featuring fixed pitch propellers with a diameter of 1.85 metres. The azimuth thrusters are driven by diesel-electric systems to fulfil strictest emission requirements.

With a suction tube on the starboard side and an inboard dredge pump, she can load 1500m3 of material. Unloading the dredged material can be done by opening a row of bottom doors.

In addition, the material can be pumped by one or two series-connected dredge pumps with discharge connections on both sides of the ship or via a bow connection at the front.
