Tooradin dredging plan on the table

The Tooradin boat ramp upgrade plans are out for public consultation until Wednesday, April 5, Better Boating Victoria (BBV) said.

Plans propose resurfacing and extending the concrete ramp which, combined with dredging , would provide access at a greater range of tides.

Other improvements include a pair of floating pontoons on the outside of the ramp lanes would being replaced with longer structures, the addition of 21 car and trailer parks to double existing capacity and widening the entry point off Foreshore Road.

The Tooradin boat ramp is an important part of the Western Port boat ramp network and comprises of a three-lane concrete ramp with two floating pontoons, fish cleaning facilities, parking, etc.

The ramp is predominantly used by recreational fishers with a small number of other recreational and commercial boaters also utilising the facility. Boaters use the ramp year-round with usage increasing significantly from spring through to early autumn.

Increasing demand combined with deteriorating condition of the ramp and its supporting infrastructure have seen the facility prioritised for upgrading.
