Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has just shared a couple of beautiful photos of Boskalis hopper dredger ORANJE working on a dredging project in the Maldives.
The 22,000m3 TSHD ORANJE – one of the biggest in Boskalis fleet – is currently engaged in dredging and land reclamation works within the Phase II, Area C, of the Thilafushi reclamation project.
According to the HDC, development of Phase II will bring an end to industrial works in Male’ City. The plan is to reclaim 20 hectares of land (Area C) and transform the island into a major industrial hub to solve the issue of shortage of land and high lease rates in Male’.
Over the past two decades, Boskalis has successfully executed several dredging and land reclamation projects in the Maldives, including reconstruction work on the islands of Vilufushi and Villingili following the devastating tsunami in late 2004 and the initial development of Gulhifalhu in 2010 and 2012.
In addition, Boskalis was responsible for the successful execution of the first phase of the expansion of Gulhifalhu in 2019 and 2020.
