JDN’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Pedro Álvares Cabral – sailing on 100% second-generation biofuel – carried out the sustainable dredging and beach replenishment works along the Belgian coast.

This reduced the vessel’s CO 2 emissions by 80% to 90%.
In order to protect the Belgian coast, Jan De Nul raised the beach by pumping ashore a large quantity of sand.
This way, the company kept the shape of the coastline intact in a natural way.
The site office is highly energy-efficient because of its green energy supply.
“We are currently investing heavily in a renewal of our huts for all sites. After this investment boom, only eco-site huts will be part of our infrastructure,” said JDN.
The CO 2 emissions achieved on this project are 88% lower than the reference footprint.
