A Public Open House on the proposed Lake Scugog Enhancement Project (LSEP) will take place on May 25.
According to the Township of Scugog , participants can review the draft LSEP design and provide input for consideration as part of finalizing the design at the open house, which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Scugog council chambers, 181 Perry St.
The township, in partnership with Kawartha Conservation and the Scugog Lake Stewards, has completed a draft design for the Lake Scugog Enhancement Project.
The design is based on the preferred solution developed through the recently completed municipal class environmental assessment.
According to the township, the goals of the project include increasing boating access and other recreational uses such as paddling and angling, as well as improving stormwater treatment and increasing fisheries productivity in Lake Scugog.
Also, the project is set to enhance tourism in Scugog.
The project includes constructing a 245-metre-long berm with a trail and fishing platforms, dredging 3.67 hectares of the lake around Port Perry Bay generally to a 1.8-metre depth, creating a 10,650-square-metre wetland at Baagwating outlet with the dredged materials and removing approximately 2,000 cubic metres of dredge material off site.
