The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, started the month of June with a ceremony commemorating the completion of the Little Sodus Harbor West Pier project in the Village of Fair Haven, New York.
Leadership from the Buffalo District in attendance included District Commander, Lt. Col. Lyle Milliman, Deputy District Engineer, Dave Romano and Little Sodus Project Manager, Lex Barker.
“Joining them in the celebration was Jim Basile, Mayor of the Village of Fair Haven, NY, Cody Donahue from our partnering contractor Crane-Hogan Structural Systems, and special recognized guest, Kyle Meddaugh, a local photographer whose photos alerted the District to the extent of the damage to the pier after the 2019 winter storms,” USACE said.
“The Corps’ Civil Works mission provides a key foundational component to the nation’s public infrastructure that enables economic growth, improves quality of life, ensures environmental health, and strengthens national security for the American people”, said Lt. Col. Milliman .
“Today, more than ever is a critical time for investments in our nation’s infrastructure like the Little Sodus Harbor West Pier.”
These repairs will ensure the pier, along with its adjacent federal navigation channel, continue to provide safe passage and refuge for commercial fishermen and recreational boaters between Little Sodus Bay, Lake Ontario and the rest of the Great Lakes
