MGN Civil: Work in full swing on the Lumsden Point project

MGN Civil crews are making great progress on the new seawalls at Lumsden Point, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority.

The contractor began work on the east seawall in March and is now 70 per cent complete. To date, 127,000 tonnes of core and armour rock have been delivered to site, with 115,000 tonnes of that rock now placed.

The crews will now turn their attention to armour rock placement and lining of the inner seawall bund with geofabric and grits material in preparation of receiving the dredge spoil in early 2024.

Lumsden Point forms part of the Port of Port Hedland Development Plan Review, which was undertaken to maximise export capacity at the port.

The first stage of works on the project will construct two seawalls and a new causeway, which will connect the wharf to the proposed logistics hub. The works will also enable dredging of the berth pocket and turning basin.
