Tweed Shire Council (NSW) is developing a Coastal Management Program (CMP) as a part of their ongoing commitment to the preservation and protection of the coast and estuaries.
The program will be developed over the coming months from research and consultation with experts, stakeholders, and community members and aims to address the challenges faced by the coastline.
The study area of the Tweed Coast and Estuaries CMP covers the 37km long open coastline and includes the 13 Council managed beaches and three coastal estuaries that span from Duranbah beach in the north to Wooyung beach in the south.
The core objective of coastal management is to balance the demands of society, the economy and the environment while building community resilience to the impacts of climate change.
