Working under the Environmental & Crown Lands licence, the dredge Faucan will remove up to 30,000 cubic meters of sand.
She will be operating in the channel in the vicinity of Ettalong and Lobster Beaches and depositing sand on the south-western side of the sand bar south of Umina Beach.
The dredging is forecast to take anywhere between 4-8 weeks, depending on the weather and other operational factors.
This will provide a 30-metre-wide channel allowing vessels with draft of up to 2.5 metre to navigate it safely.
