The port said that they have worked with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to reactivate a disposal facility for dredged material at the mouth of the Maumee.
Reopening that area, known as Facility 3, came in response to the state banning the practice of dumping dredged material in Lake Erie.
The material is pulled up along shipping channels and the approaches and berths of Toledo’s 13 active marine terminals.
Officials at the open house will discuss various uses for the dredged material, including dike wall construction, at Facility 3.
The meeting is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 5 inside the lobby of One Maritime Plaza in Toledo.
