Stage 2 saw approximately 60.000m3 of sand removed from the Tweed River Entrance and placed at Dreamtime, Snapper and Bilinga.
This is in addition to approximately 200,000m3 of sand dredged as part of the Stage 1 campaign completed in June 2023.
According to the NSW government, the dredging has provided a safe navigation channel at the Tweed River Entrance and has involved innovative sand placement strategies.
