Port of Townsville Limited has just released the latest update on its Townsville Channel dredging program.

According to the announcement, three million cubic metres of dredged material has been removed from Townsville’s shipping channel as the Channel Upgrade Project continues.

“A total of 2307 barges have been unloaded in our new 62ha reclamation area to reach the milestone,” said the Port.

“We are now 90 per cent of the way through the channel widening and the project is on track for completion in 2024.”
