The Kingston District Council, South Australia, is about to begin maintenance dredging activities at Cape Jaffa.
The District advised members of the public that the dredging operations are scheduled to commence from approximately Thursday 1 Feb 2024, in Cape Jaffa.
“The discharge site is located to the eastern side of the channel/harbour and there will be a presence of heavy machinery at this location. The discharge pipeline will trail the dredge and usually rests on the seabed during operations; however, the pipeline may be floated to facilitate dredge movements,” officials said in the latest update.
Over the years, the Kingston District Council has conduncted many dredging campaigns at Cape Jaffa, keeping the boat launch facility and navigation channel operational.
And this one will be no different, with the exception of Maritime Constructions undertaking the works. For the last five years, the Council staff have successfully managed the dredging program at Cape Jaffa.
However, last summer the Kingston District entered into a long-term partnership with South Australian owned company Maritime Constructions to continue the dredging operations at the Cape Jaffa Marina.
