Norfolk Dredging began placing sand on the beach in November and besides a few pauses due to weather, the project has been operating continuously since then.
According to the latest update, the contractor has finished the cut Banks Channel segment last night and for the next four days to a week, the inlet will be blocked by a floating hose while they dredge the Cut Through.
Due to this work, crews will be on site to guide boaters around the dredge Delaware until their work is complete in this area.
Overall, Norfolk Dredging will dredge around 1.6 million CY of material from the Topsail channels, out of which minimum of 1.3 million CY will be placed on the beach. The project is to be completed before March 1st, when the environmental window closes.
